UNITED STATES OF AMERICA MARTIAL ARTS DAN REGISTRY

OFFERING A NON-POLITICAL VENUE FOR RANK ADVANCEMENT AND RECOGNITION

Just what is the USADR? The USADR is a sanctioning organization that provides martial artists with an alternative venue for upgrading their ranking level, as well as offering open public review of members rank status. We have an open registry that the general public can access, to validate said rankings. The USADR is open to many disciplines and our upgradings are based upon proof of training (Dan Certifications and Video) and a Time In Grade (TIG) Standard. Now there are those in the martial arts world that stipulate that an organization cannot and should not be able to promote anyone, who does not practice the same specific discipline of the granting organization. The only reason they state this is because of two things, they are affraid of losing the monitary rewards for their own organization or they are miffed that someone found an alternative to the political nonsense and high costs and was able to think for themselves and not follow blindly the status quo. The only real proof of abilities, lies on the dojo/dojang floor and no piece of paper in the world, from the most expensive to the print it yourself, can displace this fact. So ask yourself, do I really need to fork over a couple of hundred bucks, for a piece of paper and hope that I get it and it's valid, or can the USADR be an alternative?

Contrary to popular belief, all disciplines have a practical base core that is interchangeable. Regardless of what you study, a front snap kick is a front snap kick and so on. What seperates the disciplines is the training methodology and input of the individual instructor. Look at forms as an example. The same core principles of block and counter and movement occur. What makes them different is the order of the movements and what the next generation feels should be added to the mix. The human body only moves in specific ways and unless your a full blown acrobate, the vast majority of folks will be delivering these movements in the same manner. You can go to a tournament and watch another discipline do forms and you can be able to grade, by the way the practicioner moves and performs the given techniques/movements. Movement is smooth, blocks, strikes and kicks are quick and sharp and individual intensity is present. It's not brain surgery, but some wish to lend you to believe that it's close to it, just to protect their own interest's. Bruce Lee is credited with the saying "take what is usefull and discard the rest". Makes sense, but individual disciplines have fostered the opposite and have opted for "more is better", but that's just to keep students longer and the bucks rollong in.

They also say that one must physically test to be granted upward mobility. Now we concur with this assessment, to a point and that point being is that at what Dan level is testing really not required? Some insist that you don't learn the advanced material until your up in the higher ranks, but ask yourself, is there really "advanceced" or just alternative ways to doing the same things. If you don't know your disciplines core by 1st Dan, you never should have gotten to that level in the first place and secondly, it's your own personal inputs and training that allow you to excell and branch out and adjust what you have already learned. So based upon this overview, the USADR feels that forwarding proof of training and having the specific TIG, validates your application for membership and advancement.

Our Time In Grade intervals are from 1st to 2nd Dan 1year TIG, 2nd to 3rd Dan 2 years TIG and for 3rd Dan and up, 3 years TIG. Now as stated prior for proof of training, we require a video sample of your physical attributes. We wish to make sure that every applicant is a valid practicioner with the ability to perform the physical aspects of generally accepted martial arts. This insures that any USADR certification granted has/is being forwarded to a viable canidate and it further insures that a USADR certifcation offers credable validation.
